Truck Troubles!

Today started much like any other day. During this spell of really hot weather I work in the shop until around 10:00 am. Then I usually go inside and work around the house, on my White River Crafts website or on this website. Today was no different.

As I was headed into the house I noticed Alphonse and a bunch of his buddies playing in the truck. They were romping around and doing something with some rope. I had backed the truck in so I could unload some lumber.

Later I came out to the shop to get a drawing, and I noticed most of them were in the cab playing. That's not unusual. I will say I don't know where all these friends come from, as several aren't commonly found in this country except in Zoos.

I went back inside and continued to work on my White River site. After a while I got a call from Eddy, one of my coffee drinking buddies. He asked me if my truck was at home. I said it was and asked why he wanted to know. He said he saw a truck exactly like mine on a muddy road west of town. I didn't think too much about that, and said, so? Well, Eddy said, there was a dog driving it!! I said, Eddy have you been into the "Happy Juice" this morning? He said no, but figured I would ask that. He just wanted to let me know. I dismissed that call as some kind of joke he was pulling. About an hour later, Pete called with the same story. I still thought it was a joke, but thought I better check anyway. My truck was there in the back yard. However, it was in a different place, it was muddy, and had a bent up left rear fender.

IT WAS REALLY CONFERENCE TIME TODAY!

OK Dude - we need to have a real honest talk about your joy riding in the truck. "I know". Do you have any idea how dangerous that trip was? "No sir, I didn't think about that". "we didn't set out to drive the truck, it just kind of happened". We'll get to that later. Did you know that you were supposed to have a driver's license to drive a car or truck? "What's a driver's license"? It is a permit that says you have proven you are qualified to drive. You have to take a test to show your capable of safely driving a car or truck. "We didn't mean to cause trouble". I know that, but you shouldn't use other people's things without their permission. There is a saying that will help you a lot if you can remember it. It goes, "if doesn't belong to you, leave it alone". Now, get the gang together on the dining room table so we can have a chat.

OK guys, do you all know what you did today was wrong, asked Mac? We do now, said Vinny. How did this happen, asked Mac? Well, said Golly, we were playing in the front of the truck, and someone said, Let's go for a ride! We started talking about how we might manage it, said Henry Hippo, and the next thing we knew, we were riding in the truck. We didn't really mean to drive the truck. Well, said Alphonse, we each had a job to make it work, and we all did it. Maybe you should show me how it worked, said mac.

Well, said Benny Buzzard, we knew we would need a good team to make it happen. We chose Al to steer, said Golly, with help from Henry because Al wasn't heavy enough to turn the wheel. I volunteered to work the brake, said Vinny, because you have to be strong to do that. I was picked to push the gas pedal, said Benny.

And, said Al we put Aflac & Hickey Hedgehog up front as lookouts. They were supposed to warn us of impending problems. That wasn't all good, said Golly, because every time Aflac saw something, he screamed "AFLAC". We still don't know what that means. Hickey didn't drive either, so he didn't know what to look out for! Vinny said, after a bit, we realized we shouldn't be driving the truck, and we just wanted to get back to Al's house in one piece. We are real sorry about the fender, said Al, we don't know when it happened. What did the others do while you were riding around, asked Mac?

The rest of us looked out of the window, said Penny Penguin. It's a wonder you didn't fall out and get run over, said mac. Promise me you won't ever do anything like this again, said Mac. WE PROMISE, said all. Now let's go look at the truck, said Mac.

Do you see how bad the fender is messed up, asked Mac. Yes we do, said Casey Camel, and we sure don't want to cause anything like that to happen again. Is it going to cost much to get it Fixed, asked Casey? Yes, said Mac. Well, said Penny, we don't really understand about money, but we sure are sorry just the same. Alright guys, said Mac, I guess this business is finished. I hope we don't have to meet like this again. ME TOO, said all.
