A Couple of weeks later - The Visit

The Granddaughters, Alicia and Laura, came over and brought Mater (Alphonse's brother) with them. As you can see, they were real happy to see each other. It has been about a month since they saw each other. We should try and get them together more often.

Well, they were happy to see each other - until Mater discovered the bone that Alphonse carved. As brothers will do, they immediately got into a fight over the bone. We finally had to take the bone and put it away. Mater wanted to learn how to use the computer. Since Alphonse is the new computer nerd, he's Mater's teacher as well.

Most of the "instruction" was from the keyboard. I suppose Alphonse felt photo editing was the first thing for Mater to learn. Don't know why. Maybe that's all Al knows how to do!

Sometimes a teacher has to do more than just show or tell someone what to do. He has to go to the board and point to it. In this case, Alphonse had to point out something on the screen for Mater. I hope Mater learned well.

Later - around the house-

The boys found the mirror in the guest room. I had no idea they had never looked into a mirror before. They were extremely surprised. We finally realized that they couldn't figure out who was who. I guess they worked it out, and they seemed to really enjoy the mirror. Alicia and Laura came to help and we got their picture also.

Well, the guys decided to take a break and look out the front window for a while. They were in luck, because the neighborhood cat showed up. So they sat there and made faces at the cat and laughed. They had a good time.

Before Mater left for home, Al had to give him a few pointers on carving. I think it was mostly about using the knife. He was using one of my carving knives rather than the small one he used before. AT least no one got cut. Maybe Mater will take up carving as well.

I think Al and Mater were both worn out by the time the evening was over. I know Al went to rest right away. Maybe we shouldn't wait so long between visits.

I guess Alphonse was really tired from his afternoon and evening visit with Mater. The next day, he slept all day instead of guarding the bedroom. That was Sunday, so I guess that was ok, as we were there most of the day.

Tuesday night, April 1, I heard something in the computer closet, and thought we had a mouse. Turns out, it was just Alphonse rummaging through my tool bag. I wonder what he needs tools for? I don't know what he was looking for, but he declined to comment. He sure keeps busy.

I think he was surprised that I heard him. I can't tell if that is a guilty look, or one that says"go away", or "stop spying on me". I suppose he has some new project he doesn't want me to know about at this time. Or maybe never!
