Later in the week ----- The Noise

When I came in from the shop this afternoon, I heard a terrible noise. Sounded sorta like a dog howling at a siren, together with a chicken scratching on a tin roof. I tracked it down to the computer room closet. There sat Al with a guitar just a pickin' and a grinnin', and he was really getting with it. I suppose the guitar is his latest carving project. Looks pretty good. Gerald would be proud. I didn't find any chips this time.

I don't understand why he gets in the computer room closet all the time. Well, I guess he thinks it is cozier and a good place to work and play. It may be, but I can't work in the computer room with all that noise. Then, there is the LOOK - I can't figure this out. He won't say anything about the LOOK, but I think it means "go away" or maybe "You can't understand ". Anyway, it's not a good thing.

Alphonse just climbed up on my desk and laid his guitar down. He had a kind of sad look on his face. He says there is something wrong with it, because it doesn't sound like the ones on TV. I asked if he tuned it. No, because he doesn't know how. I can fix that, but I don't think that is the real problem. Have you studied on how to play the guitar? No, because he didn't know you had to. He thought you just had to strum the strings. Well, I told him he would have to learn to play if he intended to be a picker. He would have to learn to pick the strings with his fingers, or in his case, his toes!! That should be a sight.

I wonder where this new thing with the guitar will lead us. It should be interesting.

Well, it seems that Alphonse has been spending a lot of time on the internet. I finally found out that he was searching for special music and guitar instructions for Dogs! I guess he found them, because he has been worrying about mail delivery every day.

Today I realized that Alphonse was not in his usual haunts. After looking all over the house, I glanced outside only to see him sitting on the mailbox! I immediately ran outside to make sure the neighborhood cat wasn't around. After Mater and Alphonse made faces at him last week, he might be ready to get even.

The mail lady came, however, she was reluctant to deliver the mail with a dog sitting on the mailbox. I guess she decided he was ok, because she did deliver the mail. Alphonse jumped down so he could look in the box, and sure enough there was an envelop for him. We took the mail inside, and he immediately ran off and hid with his mail. He finally let me see the cover of his prize. I took a picture of it, and you can see it by clicking Here

I haven't heard any guitar noise since Al got his new music book. I suppose he is practicing when I'm not around. That may be good, but I would like to know if the book helped and if he plans to continue. I'll likely come home one day and find a band in the house!
